We have been so busy running around and finding new awesome places to visit that I have been slacking on my blog updates! I am so sorry! Today's post will be one that covers the past 2 1/2 months! If you are coming to the area we can give you a list of our top picks, not just the typical Smithsonian and National Mall (monuments, White House, Capitol Building, etc). There is so much to do here, so much history to see and experiences, and some fantastic restaurants on the Potomac River!
Addisyn cheers here on base through the Youth Center. Her team pictures were taken on Saturday when it was 29 degrees and windy, so half the team is not here :/ I thought these were cute and I would share them tough :)
On Thursday the US Capitol Christmas Tree was on base, its last stop before the Capitol building! We got some neat freebies, enjoyed arts 'n crafts, and got to see Sparky the Fire Dog!
I had to share these pics of my sweet little 6 year old! I can't believe she is 6 years old!!!
We found this awesome park, Cosca Park, which has hiking trails to Clearwater Nature Center (all of which is free!). The Nature Center has bald eagles, owls, and other unique live animals! This is a must visit if you like the outdoors!
Here is my fashion star about to head into her ballet class. She takes sign language and ballet at the Youth Center on base too! Did I mention she is a busy little lady?
We headed back to NC a few weeks ago to finish some things up at our house prior to closing (we should be closing December 8th!!). Here is a picture of Caleb with Grandpa and a picture of Addisyn after getting her hair done by Mrs. Courtney in Gastonia...
Here is Addisyn's 1st grade picture from Grace Brethren Christian School. It will be in the year book :)
Caleb turned 2!!! Where has the time gone??? Caleb was 24lbs 2oz (8th percentile) and 35.5 inches tall (76th percentile)- at his 2 yr well check- tall and thin who would've guessed lol
Addisyn is in Girl Scouts (she is in the Daisy group). Here are some pictures from their investiture ceremony, where she officially became a Girl Scout...
My sweet girl lost her 1st tooth!!!
Had to share this sweet smile too...
Oh and this picture is just priceless lol...
Last weekend we headed to the National Harbor for the Christmas tree lighting and fireworks show! It was awesome!!!
Happy Halloween, Caleb's birthday, and trick-or-treating fun...
Linda, Katie, and Ben came up to visit us a few weeks ago. We took them into the heart of DC to see some of the Smithsonian museums, the Washington Monument, Reflecting Pool, and the Lincoln Memorial. We also took them to Fort Washington and to the National Harbor. It was a weekend full of entertainment! The DC area is such a great place to live/visit...
We bought 2015 Season Passes to Six Flags of Washington/Baltimore, and we were allowed to use them for the remainder of the 2014 year! Here are just a few pics. We can't wait for summer when the water park opens up!!
We took the kids to the Chesapeake Children's Museum a few weeks ago (Natalie came with us) and the kids had a blast. It was a very inexpensive and entertaining thing to do with the kids :)
Another favorite place to visit (also free!) is Jones Point Park and Lighthouse. There are 2 very nice playgrounds, greenway trails under the bridge, and walkways to the Potomac River and Jones Point Lighthouse!
This was one of our first visit to Fort Washington. We love the history here! This is a free activity all winter, and inexpensive during the rest of the year ($5 to park, but your pass is good for 3 days).
We found a very nice pediatric dentist in the area (We Make Kids Smile- yes a very long name for a dentist office!). Here are a few pics. No cavities for either kid- yay!
Wow, well that should catch you up on our happenings around here! We will post again soon, or at least after the holidays! We love you and miss you all.
Love,
Lindy, Brian, Addisyn, and Caleb
