Addisyn on the move...

Addisyn came out of the womb ready to go! She has had relatively good head control since birth. At 2 weeks old she was scooting herself around the bassinet- she would scoot into the edge and get stuck; at 3 1/2 weeks old she started pushing up and lifting her head; at 5 weeks old she started to mimic us with noises and smiled more frequently at us; and at 7 weeks old she was able to roll from her tummy onto her back (this shocked Lindy and her mom at the beach) . She is a very active baby! We have been very bad about recording her milestones, but here are a few videos of Addisyn:

Addisyn walks with some assistance from Daddy. She is really strong- watch her push herself up!: (Daddy has been doing this with her for about 2 weeks now, but this is her at 9 weeks old)


This is an 8-week old video of Addisyn rolling over (or part of her rolling over- Brian grabbed the camera after Addisyn had already positioned herself, but it shows the majority of the action) She had rolled over for us several times before we thought to get the camera :)

Well this week has been quite busy. With Lindy starting at DSS, Brian and Addisyn have had to readjust their schedules. Lindy does a 6:00am feeding with Addisyn and then pumps a bottle for Brian to use later. At lunch Brian and Addisyn come eat with mommy and then she pumps a bottle for Brian to take with him for Addisyn for later. When Lindy gets home she feeds baby, she eats, Brian goes to work, and then Addisyn and Lindy are in bed around 8:30pm :) This schedule is quite nice except for on Saturday mornings. This morning Addisyn woke up precisely at 6:00am wondering where her morning feeding was!

Last Sunday Addisyn met her great grandparent's from Brian's side of the family :) Unfortunately anytime we go anywhere, regardless of when her last feeding was, she will be hungry. So after being there a few minutes Addisyn had to excuse herself to get fed :)



Lindy is loving her new job. There is so much to know about Family and Children Medicaid cases. The most unusual aspect of the job is trying to figure out how some people report that they have NO income at all, yet they have 2 or 3 nice vehicles and a huge house. How on earth do you pay 2 or 3 car payments and a hefty mortgage on no income? It is the never-ending question! The positive side to this is that it gives Lindy a job :) This week was full of fun clients, cases, and lots of training!

Oak Island and a 7-week old baby :)

We spent last week at Oak Island beach visiting with family, riding in waves, and soaking up the sun. Addisyn was introduced to the ocean for the first time, Lindy was introduced to a giant ocean crab for the first time, and Brian enjoyed catching crabs :) Addisyn enjoyed being rocked on the front porch, with the ocean breeze blowing on her. In fact, any time she started to cry we would just bring her outside and she magically stopped! She loves the outdoors! Here are a few pictures from our trip (more will be posted later):

Lake Wylie

Today we spent the day on Lake Wylie with Brian's Dad. We ate lunch at T-Bones, followed by a nice boat cruise and a swim at the sand bar. Addisyn enjoyed her first boat ride by sleeping through it and Grandpa bought her a life vest to make sure she would be safe :) Afterwards we drove over to Lindy's parents house, where Addisyn was given a fresh outfit (a very cute little dress) and was rocked by Grandma. We will post again after our next big adventure...the beach!

Last day at the hospital!

Yesterday was Lindy's last day of work at the hospital. She turned in her badge and emptied out her cubby. It was sad saying goodbye since she worked at the hospital for 4 years :( Lindy begins working at DSS on August 25th (and next week we are going to the beach!). Brian begins classes the week we go to the beach, so he is going to bring his laptop so he can do his work. On Saturday Lindy, Kristen, and Kim went to Charlotte to the America's Next Top Model auditions. There were soooo many people there! The Charlotte casting call is the only one on the East coast, so people traveled from other states to audition. Though they did not say who they were choosing, word is that they will contact all the people they choose by October. Brian took a picture of us all dressed up ready to go! Anyways, we will post pics when we get back from the beach!

1 Month Pediatric Visit

Addisyn went for her one-month pediatric appointment last week. She now weighs 8 pounds 2 ounces and is 21 inches long (up from 6 pounds 13 ounces and 19 3/4 inches at our last visit). She is in the 25th percentile for weight and the 50th percentile for height. We have added one bottle a day to her feeding schedule (of pumped breast milk) to start preparing her for when Lindy goes back to work. We also discussed Addisyn's diaper preference with the doctor (the Pamper's Swaddlers), who said her girls preferred the Pamper's too :) Lindy had a number of doctors visits the past few weeks with some postpartum health issues. After an outpatient procedure and a series of antibiotics, which will be finished up in about 8 more days, hopefully everything will be okay :) Last week Addisyn met her Great Grandma Neff, her Great Grandpa Cawein, and attended Shannon and Jason's wedding reception snuggled up in her Baby Bjorn. Addisyn is growing and changing every day. She smiles at us, enjoys her swing, and enjoys her bouncer (because it has flashing lights and sounds). Addisyn also is trying to crawl! We put her on the table at the doctor's office and Dr. Colyer could not believe how much movement Addisyn is capable of. She compared her to a 3-month old. Addisyn pushes up on her arms and looks around the room. She kicks her feet and scoots herself around her crib, but she can't quite lift up her body. Addisyn will be taking her first trip to the beach August 16th, so we will take lots of pictures and post again when we get back!
