Back to School...

Today was the first day of class for us. We will be on a Tuesday/Thursday/Friday schedule (kind of strange huh?). On Tuesdays/Thursdays we both have class from 9:30 to 4:45 with only 15 minutes between classes. On Fridays we have class from 11:00 to 1:45. Brian is taking six courses (including his lab): Geography of Earth Science, Geography of Earth Science Lab, Geographical Research, The City and It's Region, Transportation Planning (this is a graduate level class), and American Studies of the 1980s. Lindy is taking six courses (including her lab): African American Literature, Criminology, The Sociology of Evolution and Gender (this is a graduate level class), American Studies of the 1980s (same class as Brian), Sociological Research Methods, and Sociological Research Methods Lab. It is hard to believe that we are in our last year of school! The past 3 years have gone by so fast! There are a few things you learn in college though about saving money. First, we sign up for classes that occur at the same times on the same days so we can carpool (saves on gas $$). Second, we buy all of our textbooks ahead of time from half.com instead of at the campus bookstore (this saves us about $300 each on textbooks per semester). Third, we park off campus and walk on to campus about 2 miles away (this saves us $297/semester for a parking pass). And last but not least, we pack our lunch/snacks/drinks (food on campus is expensive and it adds up to eat there). Over time some of these "habits" we have picked up from college have rolled over into our personal lives. "Honey, do you want to go out to eat tonight?" "No, dear, let's stay home and have PB&J sandwiches instead." :) The picture above is Brian checking out his schedule on campus. The building behind him is the new health & human services building. We will post again soon!

Love,
Lindy, Brian, and Bear
