Time for an update!

I realize it has been a while since I have updated the blog, but better late than never right? We have been busy with work, school, and life. Addisyn really enjoys her preschool. She tells me all about her friends and how much she loves her teacher Ms. Julie :) I am enjoying my job at Gaston College, but have decided only to teach 1 class over the summer so I can spend some extra time with my sweet little girl. We are really looking forward to our week-long trip to the Outer Banks at the end of the month. I cannot wait! I graduate from UNC Greensboro the first Friday in May- I am finally done with my M.A. woo hoo!

The past few days have been a little hectic. Addisyn had her first ear infection, which was a shock to me. I took her to the doctor because she had been throwing up, not eating, and had a terrible deep croupy cough. I had no idea that she had an ear infection too. Oh and it turns out that she also got a new tooth! Poor thing!

We had a really bad storm on Monday night. We lost our power during the storm and did not get it back on until Wednesday night. We stayed with Brian's mom in Cherryville, which was like a mini-vacation for us ;)

It is monkey business!!

I felt that it was time for a blogger update, so here it is! To begin, Addisyn LOVES her preschool. The first 2 weeks were a bit rough- lots of crying, but now she cannot get me out of the room fast enough. "Mommy leave now. Go to work. Bye!" I must admit it is MUCH easier to leave when she is pushing me out of the door! I really like her preschool- the two teachers in the two-year-old room are wonderful. The school has been completely remodeled- the new playground outside is awesome, so I cannot wait for it to warm up enough for the kids to play on it (the children currently play in the indoor gym since it is so cold). Addisyn loves when the gymnastics instructor visits the school (twice per month)- she brings the balance beam, the uneven bars, and the mats! Addisyn also looks forward to music class (a music instructor comes twice per month too)- he brings instruments, fun, and lots of singing and dancing with him!

As for my new job- I really like it. I never thought I would end up in the field of education, but I really like teaching. I am currently teaching on the main campus Monday through Thursday 9-12p and on the Lincoln Campus every other week Monday through Thursday 6-9p. My mom has been such a help with Addisyn. Brian doesn't get home in time for me to leave for Lincolnton, so my mom babysits from 5:15 until Brian gets home (around 6:15). I do not think I am going to teach on both campuses next semester, but it has definitely been a great experience so far ;)

We all survived the stomach flu last weekend. Addisyn had it Wed/Thurs night (throwing up a grand total of 9 times). Brian and I got sick Fri/Sat (Brian wins the prize throwing up 27 times- many of which were two-for-ones if you know what I am saying). Saturday morning Brian's mom came to our rescue- she picked Addisyn up and had her ALL day. Brian and I hung out at the house in misery, while Addisyn had the best day ever ;) Linda was such a lifesaver!!! Brian lost 12 pounds in 1 1/2 days and I had to laugh when he rubbed his stomach and said, "Look. I've got my beach body now." LOL

On another note, we became members of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums and used our awesome new passes to visit the Greenville Zoo in SC. The animals were nice and close, they have a wonderful playground inside the zoo for small children, and we got to celebrate the birthday of a monkey with the Chick-Fil-A cow who was giving out brownies. When we got home I asked Addisyn what her favorite animal was at the zoo and she replied, "The Chick-Fil-A cow!" I had to laugh! Here are some pictures...

More Snow!

We got at least 7 inches of snow at our house, and the street was barely visible even after people drove on it all day. Addisyn had a great time rolling around in the snow, eating it, and being pulled on her makeshift sleigh (i.e. a trashcan lid). See pictures below...

On another note, Addisyn began preschool (Mother's Morning Out) last week. It has been very difficult- lots and lots of crying (from the two of us)- I start teaching soon (if the college ever opens back up from all this snow!), so Addisyn will be attending preschool for approx. 4 hours a day Mon-Thurs. The preschool she is attending is VERY nice. The whole school was just remodeled- all new toys and a new playground. They have a music teacher that comes twice a month and a gymnastics instructor that comes twice a month too. There are 8-9 students in her class, but there are 2 teachers, so the student-teacher ratio is very low (which is excellent!). Addisyn told me her teacher gave her a hug :)

(I think I am ready for some warmer weather- not too warm though! It seems that last year we skipped from winter into the dead of summer without a spring- I would like to see spring this year!)
