Dance

Addisyn had dance class this morning :) Afterwards we went to Lebos and bought her a leotard, tap shoes, and ballet shoes. She is taking dance at Carolina Dance Explosion in Cramerton. Addisyn will be in the Belmont Christmas Parade on December 1st and the Mt. Holly Christmas Parade on December 2nd. The little dancers will be riding in limos :) Mark you calendars!

P.S. For anyone who lives in Gaston County with a little one who wants to do dance; Carolina Dance Explosion has the "Parent and Me" class on Fridays from 10am to 11am. They get to participate in the parades (ride in limos!) and also in the recital :) It is only $35/month and there is no registration fee if you sign up in October. Also, little boys get 50% off- they can dance too :)

A tantrum and a balloon!

Yesterday we went grocery shopping at Harris Teeter. They have balloons all over the store that you can purchase- "Happy Birthday" "Get Well Soon" and so on- ones with characters like Winnie the Pooh, Tinkerbell, and Barbie- to say the least, Addisyn is absolutely fascinated by balloons. While we shopped she carried around a Tinkerbell balloon. At check out when it was time to put the balloon back she had a tantrum. She refused to let go of the string. As everyone watched our embarrassing scene, she finally let go after being distracted by something else. As we are leaving the store I see a sign "Free Kids Balloons"! There is a section at the entrance of the store with free balloons for children- why on earth did the cashier not say "There are free balloons over there." Instead her and all the other employees watched our little balloon scene! I sent Brian back in to get Addisyn a free balloon and she has not parted with it since. This is her this morning still carrying around the balloon...



Addisyn collected some leaves from outside and then crunched herself into a tiny box...

My New Nephew!

Kari and Kyle's little bundle of joy arrived yesterday (October 10th) at approximately 12:30pm. He weighs 8 pounds and 8 ounces and is about 21 inches long. He has a head full of light brown hair and is absolutely adorable. Mommy and baby are both doing fine :) My nephew is soooo cute! Here are a few pics...

Pictures, Updates, and More!

Our 15-month old weighs 22 pounds (50th percentile for weight) and is 31 inches tall (between the 75th and 90th percentile for height). She certainly is growing :) She is likely going to be tall and thin like mommy and daddy. Anyways, here are a few recent pics...

Why my phone doesn't work properly...


Addisyn feeds herself with a spoon (this is really the first time we have given her a spoon to see what she would do with it and it turns out she can use a spoon!)...




When she is sleepy she drags a pillow around the house. I was cleaning the dining room and she brought me a pillow, so I sat on the floor with her for a few minutes...


Addisyn falls asleep on dad- nap time :) We are slowly taking the bottle away. She gets a bottle of whole milk at her nap and a bottle at night time. The bottle puts her right to sleep (unlike the sippy cup) but we have limited her down. She drinks out of the sippy cup all day...

I bought the girls matching outfits to wear :) Even though they are almost a year apart in age they are almost the exact same size- Kyla is a tiny little girl :)

A time of intellectual development...

The last month has been a time of huge intellectual development for Addisyn. She has learned to give high-fives, use your hand to blow kisses to herself, pucker up and gives kisses (even to her baby dolls), give hugs, point out your eyes, ears, nose, tongue, and foot, and has learned several new words- cat, meow, dog, foot, whats that?, more, block, and bug (in addition to mom, dad, this, that, hi, book, tree, and bottle). However, it can be difficult to understand what she says. She shakes her head, runs around the house, and balances on top of her giraffe tricycle. We moved her into a toddler bed on Sunday (the day she turned 15 months) and she loves it. She climbs in and out of it and points at the princesses on the headboard. When we ask "Where do you go night night?" She runs over and climbs into the bed! It is amazing how much they can understand at this age. She follows simple directions like "Get the ball and give it to dad" or "Where is your bear"- which she will then pick up and show us. She loves to read and gets very excited at night time when we read "Good Night Moon" (thanks to her Grandma). Addisyn also loves to play outside. She collects leaves, flowers, rocks, and sticks. She will have both hands and arms full- of course I think it is adorable! She knows the difference between leaves, flowers, rocks, and sticks- you can ask her for one and she knows which one you are asking for. Another new milestone involves the sniffer- yes the nose. Addisyn has learned how to smell things. Brian and her were sniffing candles at the store a few weeks ago and he showed her how. He would say "Smell this one" and then she would put her nose up to it and take a huge sniff! She will smell anything if you ask her to (food, candles, lotion, etc.).

Addisyn has figured out that we often give her different food than us at dinner time. She now points at are our food and says "that" and pushes her food away. She wants what we are eating- which means we have to eat healthy now. However, I must say that Addisyn is an excellent eater- she will eat grilled cheeses, macaroni and cheese, spaghetti, any fruit or vegetable (even right out of a can not heated up!), cheerios, nutrigrain bars, etc. (we just have to make sure we cover all the food groups- but we do not feed her junk food). Addisyn has recently learned how to pick out TV characters (The Backyardigans) by name and how to identify different animals on flashcards. Every day she learns something new and impresses us with her knowledge. Here are a few videos of Addisyn... *Addisyn is very aware that she is being recorded. It is so cute. She does act differently in front of the camera vs when the camera is not around. She must know that I am up to something!

This is a video of Addisyn and her animal flashcards- which came out of a National Geographic magazine- so they are actually intended for an older child- on one side is an animal and on the other side of the card is the factual information about the animal. I ask Addisyn to pick out a specific animal and she does...



In this video Addisyn stands up on her giraffe tricycle and shows off her excellent balance :) Then she loves on her baby doll.




This is a video of Addisyn pointing out The Backyardigans characters- she knows them by name (hard to believe she just turned 15 months old!)...


Addisyn has her 15-month well visit at the pediatrician tomorrow morning. I will post her height/weight afterwards- it will be neat to see how much she has grown physically since her last appointment. Also, Addisyn's cousin Kyla is spending the night tomorrow night (Addisyn's first sleep over!). I bought matching pajamas for the girls and matching outfits for them to wear on Saturday- I will take lot so pics of them too.
