Last day at the hospital!

Yesterday was Lindy's last day of work at the hospital. She turned in her badge and emptied out her cubby. It was sad saying goodbye since she worked at the hospital for 4 years :( Lindy begins working at DSS on August 25th (and next week we are going to the beach!). Brian begins classes the week we go to the beach, so he is going to bring his laptop so he can do his work. On Saturday Lindy, Kristen, and Kim went to Charlotte to the America's Next Top Model auditions. There were soooo many people there! The Charlotte casting call is the only one on the East coast, so people traveled from other states to audition. Though they did not say who they were choosing, word is that they will contact all the people they choose by October. Brian took a picture of us all dressed up ready to go! Anyways, we will post pics when we get back from the beach!

1 Month Pediatric Visit

Addisyn went for her one-month pediatric appointment last week. She now weighs 8 pounds 2 ounces and is 21 inches long (up from 6 pounds 13 ounces and 19 3/4 inches at our last visit). She is in the 25th percentile for weight and the 50th percentile for height. We have added one bottle a day to her feeding schedule (of pumped breast milk) to start preparing her for when Lindy goes back to work. We also discussed Addisyn's diaper preference with the doctor (the Pamper's Swaddlers), who said her girls preferred the Pamper's too :) Lindy had a number of doctors visits the past few weeks with some postpartum health issues. After an outpatient procedure and a series of antibiotics, which will be finished up in about 8 more days, hopefully everything will be okay :) Last week Addisyn met her Great Grandma Neff, her Great Grandpa Cawein, and attended Shannon and Jason's wedding reception snuggled up in her Baby Bjorn. Addisyn is growing and changing every day. She smiles at us, enjoys her swing, and enjoys her bouncer (because it has flashing lights and sounds). Addisyn also is trying to crawl! We put her on the table at the doctor's office and Dr. Colyer could not believe how much movement Addisyn is capable of. She compared her to a 3-month old. Addisyn pushes up on her arms and looks around the room. She kicks her feet and scoots herself around her crib, but she can't quite lift up her body. Addisyn will be taking her first trip to the beach August 16th, so we will take lots of pictures and post again when we get back!

Addisyn's 1st Bath and a visit with Grandpa

Addisyn had her first real bath today in her new jacuzzi baby tub :) We had to wait for her umbilical cord to come off, so previously she had been receiving sponge baths. After her bath we went and visited Grandpa, ate lunch with him, and rested in his new awesome furniture. Here are a few pics from today's events.

Today's Well Check

Addisyn had her well check today at the pediatrician. She now weighs 6 pounds 13 ounces (up from 6 pounds 5 ounces exactly one week ago). She measured 19 3/4 inches (which means the hospital did not measure her correctly because they said 20 inches, but she obviously has not shrunk). She is in the 25th percentile for her weight and the 50th percentile for her length. The doctor said Addisyn looks great! Addisyn got her first Hep B shot today (and she was not happy about it). The pediatrician restated how we should be careful who handles her because during the first 8 weeks of life a fever could kill a new baby. If she does get a cold which causes a fever, they do blood work and a spinal tap (to check for meningitis), so it is important that she does not get a fever during the first 8 weeks (note the importance of washing your hands). Her next well check is on July 27th (at one month old). The pediatrician will discuss pumping into a bottle and introducing her to a bottle to help us transition as we go back to work. First trip to the Pediatrician

Yesterday (Monday) Addisyn had her newborn visit with the pediatrician. We are using Dr. Jennifer Colyer with South Lake Pediatrics. She is a wonderful doctor and Addisyn seemed to like her too :) Addisyn weighed in at 6 pounds 5 ounces (up 4 ounces from hospital discharge- where she weighed 6 pounds 1 ounce). The doctor said she will be back to her birth weight in just a few days, which is rather impressive :) Addisyn is such a good baby, we are so lucky. She is full of sweet smiles and silly looks.
