22-Week Doctor Visit

Today we had another OB appointment and the doc says everything is going well. Addisyn's heart rate was 158 bpm (the doc said anything between 120 and 160 is healthy), which the Sonic Blast ice cream shake we consumed prior to the appointment may have contributed to Addisyn's extra movement at our appointment :) Addisyn moves around all the time. If you press on her she will kick you...she is fighter lol. Our next appointment is the last Thursday of March. At the next appointment Lindy will drink a sugary beverage and then they will take some blood. This tests for gestational diabetes. Fun stuff! Anyways, next week is spring break so we are off of school and work. We are heading down to the Villages, FL to visit with Grandma/pa. We are looking forward to having a good visit and soaking up some warm Florida sun :) We will post again after our trip.

We Registered at Babies R Us! (updated post)

We are registered at Babies R Us! We spent three hours in the store scanning every item that we liked :) We have two different cribs on our registry at Babies R Us they are both the sleigh beds with the changing table and dresser. The cherry set is listed for $399, while the lighter colored set is only $199. We like both equally as much so we included both on our registry. We had originally seen a crib set at Walmart, but after checking it out at the store we realized that it was cheaply made and we would rather not get it. Anyways you can check out our registry at www.babiesrus.com or you can visit any of the Babies R Us stores. If you find something that we have registered for at Babies R Us somewhere else for cheaper and you would like to buy it, just let us know and we will remove the item from our registry :) Anyways, we will post again soon!

It's a Girl!

We went back today for a another ultrasound. During the last one they were unable to get pics of the baby's spine because the way the baby was positioned. Today the baby's spine was visible and the tech said everything looked great :). The baby's heart rate was 146 and the baby now weighs 12 ounces (two weeks ago the baby only weighed 8 ounces), so the baby is growing fast. We also learned that we are having a girl! Her name is going to be Addison Kaylee :) Well this has been a busy week. Poor Brian has had a fever of 102 for the past three days. He went to the doc today and they said he had an infection that settled in his lungs. He is on 4 different prescriptions now, so he should start feeling better within 24 hours. Having Another Ultrasound!

Dr. Rouse called us today and said we could have another ultrasound to determine the sex. She scheduled us an appointment for Thursday, February 14th (Valentine's Day) at 1:30pm. We hope the baby will be in a more inviting position this time :) We will post again after the ultrasound!

The baby's gender is....

... still unknown! The baby was in the wrong position to determine the sex. The ultrasound technician said that the baby was tilted the wrong way and she could not get a view of in between the legs :( At the next appointment they will look again and hopefully the baby will be in a more inviting position :) Anyways, the technician measured the baby's vital organs (heart, kidneys, brain etc.) and everything looked great. We got to see the baby swallowing amniotic fluid (which was really cute) and the baby showed its hands and feet to us too. They did 2D and 3D ultrasound pictures. The 3D ultrasound pictures are cute but they are kind of creepy because you can really see the baby's skeletal structure. The baby is not storing fat yet. When we have our 3D/4D ultrasound done in the 3rd trimester it will look much different because the baby will be filled out. Anyways, if you look at the ultrasound pictures you can see the profile of the head, the hands, and there is one great one of a foot (you can see all 5 toes). Anyways, Lindy has gained 6 1/2 pounds, though she is not really showing yet. The doctor said she may not really start showing until 6 or 6 1/2 months (and she is 18 weeks, 5 days right now) because she is so tall. Anyways, the baby kicks all of the time! You can actually feel it kicking from the outside now. The baby kicks the most when Lindy is hungry. Well we will post again after our next appointment. We are happy to report that the baby is in great health :)

CMC Hospital Tour

This evening we took our tour of Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Lindy's parents attended the Parent/Grandparent tour too. This hospital makes Gaston Memorial look like an ant hill. It is huge! Anyways, a few things to know about the hospital. Visitors must park in the Visitor's Parking Deck. It costs $3 to park in it. The main entrance to the hospital is only opened from 4:30am to 9:00pm. After these hours you must enter through the emergency room entrance. The Maternity Center is located on the 8th floor of the hospital. We will begin in a Labor/Delivery/Recovery room and spend about 2-3 hours in there after the baby arrives. After this we will move to a Postpartum room where we will stay for our remaining 48 hours. The baby will stay in our room :) Here are a few pictures we took at the hospital (actually Lindy's Dad took). If you enter through the main entrance you will recognize where we are standing in these pictures. We will post again Thursday when we have our big ultrasound!

Our baby is on the move!

Today at school, actually during Quantitative Analysis, our little teddy graham started moving! It is so reassuring to feel the baby move for the first time :) We get more and more excited about the baby everyday :) We will post again soon!
